Toyota Corolla Sedan, new hybrid

Third body of the range after the compact five-door and the familiar Touring Sports

After the arrival of the compact version of five doors and the family body (Touring Sports), the Corolla range grows with the Sedan, the third hybrid of the popular family. From the first launch of the vehicle, in 1966, the model is a worldwide success, with more than 46 million units sold in more than 150 countries.

The new Corolla hybrid Sedan is presented with the GA-C platform, derived from the new global architecture of the brand, which provides a higher level of stability and driving feel. In terms of design, the front part evolves with the front ends of the fenders with a two-step execution and now flanks the lower grille that projects outwards. The stylized upper grille has a three-dimensional design and connects to the headlights.

The rear style reproduces the frontal execution by the shape of the bumper and the inverted trapezoidal design of the boot lid. The specific optical groups of the variant of the saloon body, are united by means of a chrome trim and the luminous signature identifies it at a first glance.

This new saloon body has the same passenger compartment as the other two versions of the range, with the same 2,700 meter battle that guarantees ample space for the legs of the passengers in the rear seats.

The new Corolla platform lowers the center of gravity and increases the rigidity of the body by 60%. And with the multi-link suspension, great ride comfort, driving feel and greater stability are ensured. The self-recharging electric hybrid system consists of a 1.8-liter, 122-hp petrol engine with EV technology without the need to plug in to recharge, with the ability to make long daily trips in zero emissions mode.

Low maintenance cost

Like the rest of Toyota's hybrid models, the new Corolla stands out for a low maintenance cost, a fuel consumption of 4.3 l / 100 km in WLTP homologation and CO2 emissions of 98 g / km. Of course, it bears the Eco label of the DGT for the benefit of lower rates on motorways and car parks and to be able to circulate in episodes of high pollution or exemption from payment of registration tax in certain autonomous communities.

The new Corolla hybrid Sedan is equipped as standard with the assistance systems and functions that comprise the Toyota Safety Sense technology. Pre-collision security with pedestrian detection function and daytime cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control at any speed, unintentional lane change warning with steering assistance, recognition of traffic signals and control of road lights is included.

It is new the trajectory maintenance system with greater assistance to driving. When the adaptive cruise control and the unintentional lane change warning are active, the latter helps the driver to control the direction with smooth movements that keep the vehicle in the lane.

Manufactured in Turkey, the Corolla Sedan will go on sale during the first quarter of 2019.
