El Corte Inglés has sold to the GrandVision group its optical Optics2000 chain, which has 106 stores in Spain and 2 in Portugal and has more than 800 employees, the distribution group reported today, which has not detailed the amount of the sale.

Under the agreement reached, GrandVision, a company based in the Netherlands, will maintain the brand and modernize and reform the existing 2000 Optic stores, while committing to open new stores within the El Corte Inglés network during the next few years.

In Spain, GranVision was already present with its + Vision brand and this operation will allow it to generate synergies by integrating its operations and supply chain, according to the same source.

"For El Corte Inglés, this agreement is another step in its policy of specialization, by transferring the management of these spaces to the retail leader in opticians," said the Spanish company.

Founded in 1976 in Barcelona, ​​Óptica2000 is currently the fourth largest retail operator in Spain and most of its points of sale are located in El Corte Inglés department stores, with a strong presence in Madrid and Catalonia. In fiscal year 2017, it generated revenues of 83 million euros.

"Óptica2000 is a well-established business with a very loyal customer base, and its acquisition with our + Vision business allows us to offer high-quality solutions for eye care in all segments of the Spanish market," he said. reported the CEO of GrandVision, Stephan Borchert.

The Dutch company currently operates in more than 40 countries and its commercial network exceeds 7,000 establishments.
