Amazon and the million dollar stamp

The multinational buys an American startup that develops an intelligent thief-proof doorbell in a new commitment to the connected home business

Amazon is no longer just a parcel company, but wants to reach every corner of the lives of its customers. Drones for the cast, smart locks, virtual assistants, state-of-the-art loudspeakers ... The innovation department of the company of Jeff Bezos does not stop creating and if he does not succeed, the checkbook does wonders.

Amazon, behind Apple, was one of the first US companies to reach a trillion dollars worth of market value, figures that allow it to face purchases from companies like the one made last year. Bezos bought the startup Ring for 1,000 million dollars, disbursement that was the second largest purchase of Amazon in its history.

A purchase that is one more piece of the Amazon puzzle at home connected. Ring, like all American entrepreneurial history, was born in a garage in Silicon Valley. His father Jamie Siminoff created a small doorbell called DoorBot to monitor the deliveries that were left at the door of his house.

The HD Video Ring portfolio with Wi-Fi connection and security cameras provides "proactive, preventative and affordable security for homeowners," says the owner. According to data from Jeff Bezos' company, thanks to the installation of Ring's smart doorbells, the theft rate fell.

The biggest example, says Amazon, is in a Los Angeles neighborhood that saw a 55% drop in home thefts after installing Ring Video Doorbells in just 10% of homes.

As explained by Ring, through bidirectional communication, the motion sensor and the live broadcast of all devices can be seen, heard and spoken with anyone who is on the property, no matter where the user is.

Since this summer, the new Amazon stamps are available in Spain. The devices can be purchased in our country through Amazon.es, Media Markt, Fnac or through the company's website. Its price ranges from 99 euros for the Ring Video Doorbell, the basic version of the video door entry, to 299 euros for the Ring Floodlight Cam.

The father of the stamps, Siminoff says that "the company now continues its mission to reduce crime in neighborhoods around the world."
